The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is a two-seat sports car that was produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1954 to 1957 as a gullwinged coupé and from 1957 to 1963 as a roadster. Meyer's winning time for the 1983 Boston Marathon race was 2:09.00. He was the last American to win the Boston Marathon until 2014, and the last person born in America to win the Chicago Marathon until 2017. He set ten American road racing records and two world records, and won the River Bank Run, in Grand Rapids seven times.
Design
Meyer is a transitional serif family, influenced by typography found in 1970's and 80's advertising. Namely, the editorial style of typography set in running sneaker advertising formed the design inspiration for Meyer. The typeface is slightly condensed in nature and comprises of characteristics taken from traditional and gothic-esque serifs. The typeface includes a collection of features that provide designers with a personal choice on various stylistic preferences. These features include a number of uppercase discretionary ligatures, alternate umlaut accents that sit within character counters, circled numbers and a wide set of arrows.
