Polar is a geometric sans family. Originally designed and released in 2018, Polar has undergone a complete update with refined glyphs, improved kerning and the introduction of new opentype features that include additional stylistic alternates. The approach to creating Polar was to generate a well-balanced geometric with some unique moments, such as the alternate lowercase ‘a’ with the kicked out stem. The typeface was drawn with optically balanced strokes, with little contrast on the horizontal and verticals. Polar’s new cut is set in a much wider range of weights, giving designers more flexibility in their work. The level of refinement and detailing means the new cut can be used in super-sized settings, as well as microscopic instances.
